          머리말

          세계보건기구(WHO)에서 건강은 인류 모두가 누려야 할 기본적인 권리로 규정하고 있으며, 우리나

          라 헌법에서도 모든 국민은 건강에 관하여 보호를 받는다고 명시하고 있다. 국민의 건강은 무엇보다

          도 국가나 지역사회의 공중보건수준에 의해 결정되기 때문에 공중보건학은 장차 국가면허를 취득해

          보건의료분야에 종사하면서 국민의 건강유지 및 증진 업무를 맡게 될 보건의료인력의 경우 매우 중요

          한 의미를 갖는다. 따라서 공중보건학은 보건의료분야의 전문인력을 양성하는 대학뿐만 아니라, 우리

          의 일상생활에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 각종 사회실무분야의 자격증 취득시험, 보건직 공무원 임용 및

          승진시험 등에서도 기본 소양이 되는 매우 중요한 교과목으로 자리 잡고 있다.

          본 교재는 대학의 보건관련학과에서 국가면허시험을 준비하는 학생들을 주 대상으로 하였으나,

          인적으로 공부하는 수험생들에게도 도움이 될 수 있도록 교재내용의 대부분을 강의노트 형식으로 간

          략하고 체계적으로 정리하였다. 또한 단원별로 충분한 연습문제를 준비해 교과내용에 대한 이해 여부

          를 확인할 수 있도록 하였다. 교재내용은 국가시험 출제기준에 근거하여 제1편 공중보건학 개념, 2

          편 환경보건, 3편 역학 및 질병관리, 4편 보건관리 등으로 구성하였으며, 각 편은 다시 세부적인

          장으로 나뉘어 있다. 1편에서는 건강과 공중보건학에 관한 개괄적인 내용을 다루고 있으며, 2

          에서는 환경위생, 환경보전, 식품위생, 산업보건 등 4개의 장으로 이루어져 있다. 특히, 환경보전 분야

          에서는 오늘날 전 지구적인 관심의 대상으로 전 인류의 공동대처를 필요로 하는 산성비(acid rain),

          오존층 고갈(ozone depletion) 및 지구온난화(global warming) 문제에 대하여 최근의 자료를 토대로

          비교적 자세하게 기술하였다. 향후 이러한 광역대기오염 현상은 공중보건학적인 측면에서 지역사회구

          성원을 비롯하여 전 인류의 건강과 일상생활에 보다 심각한 영향을 초래하게 될 것이다. 3편에서는

          역학, 감염병관리, 기생충질환관리, 만성질환관리 등 4개의 장으로 나누어 기술하였으며, 4편은 보

          건행정, 사회보장 그리고 각종 보건사업에 대한 내용으로 나누어 정리하였다. 교재의 내용은 최근의

          보건 및 환경관련 법규의 개정에 맞추어 내용을 수정 및 보완하였으며, 보건통계자료를 인용하여 건

          강문제를 보다 정확하게 이해할 수 있도록 하였다. 본문의 내용 중 난해하거나 주요 학술용어에 대해

          서는 영어와 한자를 괄호 안에 기입하였으며, 다소 난해한 용어나 내용에 대해서는 그 이해를 도울

          수 있도록 부가적인 정보를 첨가하였다. 그러나 강의일정에 따라 한정된 짧은 시간에 원고 집필이 이

          루어지다보니 미처 참고문헌과 인터넷 자료의 경우 그 출처가 일부 명확하게 제시되지 못한 점을 밝

          힌다. 아직 여러 가지로 미흡한 점들이 많지만 향후 각 분야의 선후배님들을 모시고 지속적인 첨삭이

          이루어질 수 있었으면 한다.

          마지막으로 본 교재를 집필할 수 있도록 도움을 주신 교수님들과 주위분들께 삼가 감사인사를 드리
